Vita is a free habit app built around lifestyle medicine. It holds personal information like your sleep, mood and journal, so this page explains exactly what is collected and what happens to it.
Who is responsible
Vita is run by the Vita team. We are the controller of your personal information. That means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for it. You can reach us at support@vitalifestyle.app.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and profile photo from sign-in.
- What you log: quests completed, sleep hours, hydration, mood, stress, energy, activity, journal entries and reminder settings.
- Friends: who you have added and whether they accepted.
- Your timezone, so days start and end at your midnight.
Why we use it (legal bases)
- To run the service you signed up for: your account, logs, streaks and friends. We rely on performance of our agreement with you.
- To send email reminders, only if you turn them on. We rely on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings.
- Health information you log, such as sleep, mood, stress and energy, is processed only because you explicitly choose to enter it. We rely on your explicit consent. You can withdraw it by deleting entries or deleting your account.
What we do not do
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We never sell or rent your data, and never share it for marketing.
- We do not read your journal. It is never shown to friends.
- We do not make automated decisions about you or build a profile of you.
We do not sell or share personal information. For California residents, this means there is nothing to opt out of under the CCPA's "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" right.
Who else processes it
Vita uses a small number of service providers to run:
- Clerk — sign-in and account security.
- Supabase — the database that stores your logs.
- Our web host — to serve the app.
- An email provider — only if you turn on email reminders.
International transfers
Our service providers store data in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your information is transferred there. These transfers rely on our providers' Standard Contractual Clauses.
What friends can see
Only people you have accepted as friends can see your display name, total XP and which days you were active. They cannot see your logs, scores, mood, sleep or journal.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your information within 30 days. That includes backups, which rotate out within the same period.
Your controls
- Export everything as a file from Settings → Your data.
- Delete your account from Settings → Your data. This permanently removes your profile, logs, quests, friendships and journal.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of your information (access).
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Export your information in a portable file (portability).
- Delete your information.
- Limit how we use your information (restriction).
- Stop using your information for a particular purpose (objection).
- Withdraw consent you have given, at any time.
You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Most of this you can do yourself in Settings. For anything else, email support@vitalifestyle.app.
Apple Health and Health Connect
If you choose to connect Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android), Vita reads only sleep, steps, workouts, resting heart rate, water and mindful minutes, for the last 7 days each time it syncs. Vita never writes to these stores.
This data is used only to fill in your own daily log and complete your own quests. It is never used for advertising, never sold, never shared with friends beyond what you already share (XP and active days), and never sent to anyone else.
You can stop syncing in Settings at any time and remove Vita's access in the Health app (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). Deleting your account deletes everything that was synced.
Health information
Vita is educational and is not a medical device or medical advice. It is not covered by HIPAA. Talk to a clinician about any health concern.
Age
Vita is intended for people aged 13 and older, or the higher age of digital consent where you live (for example 16 in parts of the EU), unless a parent or guardian consents. We do not knowingly collect information from children below that age without that consent. If you believe such a child has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
